True Caller ID is now available through Hamilton
Relay and in some states. If you subscribe to Caller ID through
your local
telephone company—and your state has made this feature
available—you can now receive the name and number of the
person who is calling you through the relay, rather than the
relay’s Caller ID information.
Caller ID through relay works exactly as
it does when not using relay. If Caller ID information is blocked—or if the call
is out of the area or the caller information is unavailable—then
you will receive a message to that effect.
Since your call through the relay will reflect
your phone number rather than the relay’s, there is a
greater likelihood that more relay calls will be answered and
that there will be
fewer disconnected calls or hang-ups.
Caller ID benefits all relay users, even
those who do not subscribe to Caller ID through their local
phone service. Because of this
new technology, calls to the relay are connected five to six
seconds faster—and the connection from the CA to the number
you are dialing also happens more quickly.
